The English philosopher believed that in order to live calmly and safely, people should give part of their freedom to the State that would guarantee safety to them.

This way of thinking is still current: nowadays some politicians, and the media who side with them, claim the necessity for a stronger State with the power to control people, inspired to the Leviathan Model.

In Italy some party secretaries would provide the police and the army with more powers in order to control the territories, guaranteeing safety.

Just like Hobbes believed, they are scared of losing what they own but, in my opinion, they risk to destroy the most important gift we have: freedom of thought.

In my future, I would like to see a fair society that guarantees freedom to everyone, being tolerant and multi-ethnic, a society in which every person, without any fear, could be rationally critic.
